Don’t Let Sin Destroy You
For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
Sin is birthed from the heart and proceeds out of the heart. Every evil thought and every evil thing that mankind does comes from the heart.
Jesus said that “these are the things which defile a man.” Sin defileth a man from the heart outward.
And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.
In Genesis, the Bible tells us that the thoughts of man’s heart was evil continually. That is why God flooded the world. Mankind kept thinking about evil; they could not cease from doing evil; every man did that which is right in their own eyes.
Sin always brings judgment.
Proverbs tells us what we need to do to keep ourselves from being defiled. “Keep thy heart with all diligence…put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips far from thee”
We must examine ourselves and confess and repent any sins that we may have committed daily. We must be the like the psalmist, and ask God to search us, to make sure there is nothing that will hinder our fellowship with him.
Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
We must get into the habit of asking God to search us and know our hearts. The only we can keep our hearts with all diligence is if we ask our Heavenly Father to know our hearts, our thoughts, and if we ask him daily to examine, to see if there be any wicked way in us.
Finally, we need to ask God to lead us in the way everlasting. We need to ask God for strength to live this Christian life, instead of taking the easy way out and conforming to this world.
2 Timothy 2:4
No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
As Christians, we cannot allow ourselves to become entangled with the sins of this world. We cannot allow ourselves to become entangled with the list of the flesh and the eyes and the pride of life. We must present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God. That is why God saved is. He saved us to follow hard after Him, to serve Him faithfully, and to lead others to Him that they might be saved.
My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Christian, don’t let unconfessed sin keep you from serving God. Get it right with Him and ask for his forgiveness.
Lost person, you can never have victory over sin until you accept Christ as your Lord and Saviour. If you have never been saved, please read the steps below to find out how you can know Christ as your Lord and Saviour.
The reason why you have arrived at this page is that you did not feel confident that you would go to Heaven if you were to die right now. However, the Bible assures us that there is a Way to get to Heaven, and it is the only Way to Heaven.
First, you must understand that God loves sinners. John 3:16 reads, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” God loves you and he does not want you to perish, He wants you to have everlasting life in His Glorious Kingdom.
Second, you must understand that no one is worthy. Without the saving blood of Jesus Christ, no one is worthy to be called “righteous”. Romans 3:10 reads, “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:”
Third, you must understand that all have sinned. We are all born with a sinful nature because of the fall of mankind in the Garden of Eden. All of us have sinned against God. This also means that all of us need salvation. Romans 3:23 reads, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
Fourth, you must understand that the penalty of sin is death in Hell. If you do not accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior from your sins, you have a future in Hell. Romans 6:23 reads, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Salvation is a gift and if we accept it, we’ll have eternal life in Heaven, not in Hell.
Fifth, you must understand that Jesus died for all. Romans 5:8 reads, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” While we were still sinners in a dark and cruel world, Christ died for all of us because He loved us. The punishments for sin reflect God’s just and holy judgment, whereas His gift of salvation commends his love for us.
Sixth, you must understand that Jesus is the only Way to Heaven. Acts 4:12 reads, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Jesus himself says in John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” The only way to Heaven and having a personal relationship with the One who created you is through Christ Jesus.
Seventh, you must understand that God wants you to know for sure that you’re saved. 1 John 5:13 reads, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”
Eighth, you must confess and believe in order to be truly saved. The Bible says in Romans 10:9-10, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead: thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Finally, call on Jesus to be saved! Romans 10:13 reads, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Once you’ve confessed in your mouth and believed in your heart, you’re saved forever! Praise God!
