The Way of Transgressors is Hard
The Lord has been pressing upon me to write this article for quite some time now as I have been trying to witness to several unsaved family members who are immersed in the lifestyle of the world. Thank God that I got saved early in life, because life is so much harder without the Lord Jesus Christ. As I was thinking about this, God brought me to this passage of Scripture:
Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard
The Hebrew used for hard in Proverbs 13:15 means excruciatingly hard or rough (like concrete). A lost man’s life is hard for several reasons, but perhaps the main one being that the lost man follows his own way. Let’s take a look at Proverbs 14:12:
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
The lost man, because he is not saved, follows after the way of transgression, the way of sin, rather than the way of righteousness. Because the lost man has no spiritual understanding, he cannot see that the path he is headed on leads to destruction. All he can see is that “it looks good to me.”
The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.
The Bible says that the way of a fool is right in his own eyes; it makes sense to him. A lost person thinks sin is fun and that a worldly lifestyle brings satisfaction and fulfillment, when it only brings sorrow and heartache. Sin might appear to have no consequences for the lost man until it is too late, and his soul winds up in hell for all eternity.
This is why the Bible warns,”Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. ” (Pro. 3:7)
Thirdly, the lost sinner has no spiritual understanding or guidance from the Word of God.
1 Corinthians 2:14
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned
The lost sinner has no understanding of the Word of God (or any spiritual thing, for that matter), because they are “foolishness unto him.” With no spiritual understanding and no spiritual discernment or guidance, life becomes hard and agonizing and sin just increases the woe and sorrow of a lost sinner who has not heard (or rejected ) the Gospel.
Fourthly, the way of the wicked is not only hard, it is filled with darkness.
The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
As the wicked sin more and more, they plunge deeper into the dark crevices of worldliness and carnality. While some see the light and get saved, those who continue to reject the light of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ will walk in darkness, because they stumble at the Word.
Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine. The light shall be dark in his tabernacle, and his candle shall be put out with him.
To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things; Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness; Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked; Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:
The lost sinner who has rejected the Gospel has chosen to not take the way of uprightness (righteousness) and has chosen to remain blinded by the devil, and kept in the snare of sin, such as to keep them from ever getting saved.
Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.
While God really only has to give a lost man one chance to be saved, he often gives a lost person myriad chances to be saved–a soul-winner, a Gospel tract, a preacher, an evangelist, a missionary, a tent revival, a sermon–you get the picture. God wants everybody to be saved, but many choose not to, even while the light of the Gospel shines ever so brightly in front of them; they choose sin instead of righteousness , they choose the things of this world rather than the things of God, they choose Satan rather than the Lord Jesus Christ.
Will you come to Jesus today dear friend and find out how to know the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour today? I pray that God would bless you as you desire to do so.
The reason why you have arrived at this page is that you did not feel confident that you would go to Heaven if you were to die right now. However, the Bible assures us that there is a Way to get to Heaven, and it is the only Way to Heaven.
First, you must understand that God loves sinners. John 3:16 reads, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” God loves you and he does not want you to perish, He wants you to have everlasting life in His Glorious Kingdom.
Second, you must understand that no one is worthy. Without the saving blood of Jesus Christ, no one is worthy to be called “righteous”. Romans 3:10 reads, “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:”
Third, you must understand that all have sinned. We are all born with a sinful nature because of the fall of mankind in the Garden of Eden. All of us have sinned against God. This also means that all of us need salvation. Romans 3:23 reads, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
Fourth, you must understand that the penalty of sin is death in Hell. If you do not accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior from your sins, you have a future in Hell. Romans 6:23 reads, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Salvation is a gift and if we accept it, we’ll have eternal life in Heaven, not in Hell.
Fifth, you must understand that Jesus died for all. Romans 5:8 reads, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” While we were still sinners in a dark and cruel world, Christ died for all of us because He loved us. The punishments for sin reflect God’s just and holy judgment, whereas His gift of salvation commends his love for us.
Sixth, you must understand that Jesus is the only Way to Heaven. Acts 4:12 reads, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Jesus himself says in John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” The only way to Heaven and having a personal relationship with the One who created you is through Christ Jesus.
Seventh, you must understand that God wants you to know for sure that you’re saved. 1 John 5:13 reads, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”
Eighth, you must confess and believe in order to be truly saved. The Bible says in Romans 10:9-10, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead: thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Finally, call on Jesus to be saved! Romans 10:13 reads, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Once you’ve confessed in your mouth and believed in your heart, you’re saved forever! Praise God!
