Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” ~Romans 10:9
There are many false gospels that are being preached in many places around the world. There are also many false religions that seek to wrest, or pervert, the Gospel of Christ. Our text reminds us this morning that the plan of salvation is simple, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” (Acts 16:31)
However, many people have tried to corrupt this simple Gospel by adding good works into the plan of salvation. Accord to Romans 10:9, there is nothing mentioned about good works, such as church attendance, baptism, being a good person, etc. The only things mentioned are confession and belief. Repentance and belief on Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on Calvary’s Cross through faith are the only things that God requires for a lost sinner to be saved. Ephesians 2:8 says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Friend, don’t let someone tell you that you must do good works to be saved. Simply come to Jesus with a repentant heart (a change of mind towards sin), believe that Jesus died, buried, and rose from the dead for your justification, and accept Christ through faith as your personal Saviour; if you do that, according to Romans 10:9, “thou shalt be saved.” If you would like to know how to be saved, please click here.
