God Works in Us Daily to Help us Please Him
“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good
pleasure.” ~Philippians 2:13
Sometimes we forget to remember what God saved us to do. When God saved
us, he justified us based on Jesus’ sacrifice on Calvary’s Cross and
then he sanctified us; that means that he separated us apart from this world.
Why? So we could do good works that please him. “For we are his
workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath
before ordained that we should walk in them.” ~Ephesians 2:10
Our text reminds us today that “it is God which worketh” in us to
produce spiritual fruit in our lives. God cannot make us or force us to
produce this fruit, but if we allow Him, God will continually show
Himself strong in our lives and cause us, through His Power, to will and to
do of his good pleasure. This means serving in the local Church through
children’s ministry, bus ministry, nursing ministry, or perhaps even
starting a ministry. If you are young man who has been called to preach,
then God will continually work in you to preach the Gospel with power
and proclaim His Name that Christ would be glorified. If you are a young
lady, God will continually work in you to help you live a holy and
chaste life and if it is God’s Will, marry a preacher and help him serve
God in the ministry.
Whatever your physical goals and aspirations are in this life, do
not forget what God has saved you from, and what he has called you to do
now that you are saved. Remember that God continually works in us to do
of His Will and to produce spiritual fruit in our lives. It is Christ,
the true vine, who purges us, the branches, that we may bear more fruit
according to His Will. May we never forget this truth as we go out into
the world today.
