Righteousness Yields Peace and Assurance
“And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance forever.” ~Isaiah 32:17
Before we got saved, according to the Bible, we were all filthy, dirty, guilty sinners damned to Hell. The Bible says that we were all as “an unclean thing”. However, when we got saved, Jesus Christ, through his shed Blood on Calvary’s Cross, washed us and made us clean and imputed (granted) His Righteousness to us through His Blood.
Our text this morning says that the “work of righteousness shall be peace.” What great peace there is in a person’s soul when they put their faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the Cross and ask for salvation! What peace there is knowing that the work of righteousness has been finished on Calvary’s Cross 2,000 years ago, and that by simply believing on Him, one can be made righteous through Christ Jesus.
We also realize that along with the “work of righteousness” the “effect of righteousness” is “quietness and assurance forever.” The longer we are saved, and the more we grow in grace, the more we will experience the calmness, peace, and tranquility of Spirit that only Christ can offer. We also will live with a blessed assurance that we shall not die in our sins, that we have been gloriously saved from a crisis eternity in a place called Hell, and that we get to have an eternal home in Heaven and live eternally with our Lord forever and ever.
Christian, don’t forget to remember today what Jesus did for you and never forget the day when you accepted his wondrous gift of salvation. May His “work of righteousness” bring about in us a peace and tranquility of spirit, knowing that we have a blessed assurance that we shall live eternally with Him. If you’re not saved, I encourage you to get saved today and experience the peace that God gives through the acceptance of His gift of salvation.
