The Consequences of Sin
“And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked…”
Genesis 3:7a (KJV)
In verse number 7 of Genesis, we begin to see the immediate consequences of Adam and Eve’s sin in the Garden of Eden. The first consequence was spiritual death.
The Bible says that the “eyes of them both were opened.” It was at this point that Adam and Eve understood both good and evil. However, they did not become gods as the devil had convinced them to believe. Instead, they realized that they were naked.
“…and they knew that they were naked…” It was at this point that mankind realized the consequences of sin. Their nakedness bare witness to the fact that they had disobeyed God.
Prior to their sin, Adam and Eve did not know they were naked. They were not ashamed. After their sin, they became ashamed of their own bodies. What a mess!
May I assure you today that sin has consequences, my friend. Sin is deceitful and those who fall into its trap will regret that they ever fell into the trap. Don’t play with sin. Stay pure. Stay right with God, because all sin is exceeding sinful. May God bless each and every one of you as you desire to please Him and say no to sin.
