Put on Charity
(14) And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
In verse 14, the Bible says to “put on charity”. That phrase can also be interpreted to mean: to put on unconditional love. The Bible says that charity is the “bond of perfectness”. The word perfectness here can be translated as “the state of completeness” or “maturity.” 2 Peter tells us that we should add to godliness brotherly kindness “and to brotherly kindness charity”; the Bible goes on to say that “For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. ” Basically, what this means is that if we have fervent and unconditional love for the brethren, we will be mature Christians that bear much fruit and have much knowledge of the things of God.
May that be our desire as we seek to grow in grace this week. May we put on fervent charity for our brethren and encourage them in the things of God this week.
