I Will Uphold Thee with the Right Hand of My Righteousness
[bible passage=”Isaiah 41:10″] –Isaiah 41:10 (KJV)’
There are five promises that God makes in this verse to the Israelites. These promises also apply to us as Bible-believing Christians.
1st Promise: “I am with thee…” The Lord has promised to be with us at all times. No matter what circumstance, situation, persecution, or trial we must endure, the Lord will always be with us.
2nd Promise: “…for I am thy God…” If we are born again, we can rest assured that God is our God and that He dwells in us and that we dwell in Him. Not only is God the God of the Universe, he is OUR God. Not only is Jesus Christ both Lord and Christ, He is MY Lord and MY Saviour.
3rd Promise: “I will strengthen thee…” God will strengthen us when we are weakest. Jesus said in 2 Corinthians 12:9 that, “[bible passage=”2 Corinthians 12:9″]”. God’s strength is always stronger in our weakness.
4th Promise: “I will help thee…” God promises us to help us whenever we need it. In times of distress or times of abundance and bliss, God promises to help us.
Final Promise: “Will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness…” God promises to uphold (that is, sustain) us with the right hand of His righteousness. We cannot maintain our own salvation. Jesus Christ, the Righteous God and Saviour, is the one who can uphold us and sustain our salvation. “Faithful is he that calleth you: who also will do it.” (1 Thessalonians 5:24)
