Daily Bible Insight–2 Corinthians 3:4
“And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:”
2 Cor. 3:4 (KJV)
Many people are under the belief today that a simple prayer can save them. However, we realize that in order to be truly saved, you need to have the faith to be able to fully trust Christ as your Savior. When the Bible says “whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed” (Rom. 9:33), the Bible is talking about a complete and total trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, not some half-hearted, unrepentant prayer that many people are leaning on for their salvation today. As Christians, we need to trust Christ not only as our Savior, but as our deliverer. David trusted in God’s divine power and ability when it came down to some of the deepest trials in life: “But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God” (Ps. 4o:17) We need to have the same attitude as David. The entire human race is poor and needy and we need to trust Christ to see us through every situation, even when we “walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil” (Ps. 23:4) Even when we mess up, we need to trust Christ that He will be “faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 Jn. 1:9). How often do we doubt the deliverance of Almighty God and look to our own human efforts to carry us through? May we be reminded of our loving Savior, in whom we have our trust, that we may ask for His deliverance in time of need.
‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
And to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
And to know, “Thus says the Lord!”
