HOW DO I KNOW THAT I AM SAVED?
“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God: that ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life.” –1 John 5:13
Again, God wants you to know for sure that you’re saved. 1 John 5:13 reads, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”
The purpose of this page is to provide you with key Scriptures that will help you KNOW that you’re saved.
What does the Bible promise now that you’re saved?
Luke 15:10 reads, “Likewise, I say unto you, there is JOY in the presence of the angels of God over ONE SINNER that REPENTETH.” In other words, when one person comes to Christ, there is rejoicing amongst the angels of God for you. How awesome is that?
2. Eternal Life
As you’ve seen above, God also promises us eternal life. 1 John 5:11-12 read, “And this is the RECORD, that God hath given to us ETERNAL LIFE, and this life is in His SON. He that hath the Son hath life, and He that hath not the Son of God hath not life.”
3. An Eternal Record of your Salvation
Your salvation is a RECORD that cannot be broken. You are sealed through the blood of Jesus Christ as His Child. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 reads, “Now he which STABLISHETH us with you in Christ, and hath ANOINTED us, is GOD; Who hath alsoSEALED us, and given the EARNEST of the SPIRIT IN our HEARTS.”
4. The Holy Ghost
(Act 1:8 KJV) “But ye shall receive POWER, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be WITNESSES unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the UTTERMOST PART OF THE EARTH.” After we are saved, Jesus’ gift of the Holy Ghost abides in us and helps us to make decisions that are pleasing to God. This does not mean we will not sin after we’re saved. It means that every time we choose to sin, the Holy Ghost will convict us and urge us to repent and come back to God. You cannot lose God’s Holy Ghost once you’ve been saved (see above).
5. A New Spiritual Body
(2Co 5:17 KJV) “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a NEW CREATURE: OLD THINGS are PASSED AWAY; behold, ALL THINGS are become NEW.” When we are saved, we are dead in our sins and we are alive in Christ. This is what this verse is saying. Our old spiritual bodies pass away and we become alive in our new spiritual bodies, because the Holy Ghost abides (lives) in us.
