Christians are Being Persecuted Because of the Pride & Envy of Unbelievers
Exodus 1:9-10 (KJV)
(9) And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we:
(10) Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.
In this passage of Scripture, we see that the Pharaoh is now jealous of the Israelites. He sees how God is with the Israelites and how they are prospering and flourishing in the land of Egypt. However, we are told in verse number nine that instead of worshiping and praising God, the Pharaoh becomes envious of the Israelites:
“And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we:” –Exo. 1:9
Pharaoh’s main concern was not how God had blessed the Israelites, but rather that they had outnumbered and waxed stronger than the Egyptians. The very thought of the Israelites outnumbering the Egyptians infuriated Pharaoh.
Unbelievers still think the same way today. They see the Gospel being preached, people getting converted, saints getting discipled, disciples making more disciples; it makes them envious to see the abundance and spiritual prosperity of God’s People. So, what do they do? They devise wicked imaginations and wicked plots, in an effort to cause the work of God to cease.
“Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.” –Exo. 1:10
The Bible says in verse ten that Pharaoh thought that by enslaving the Israelites, he was dealing wisely with them. To saved, born-again believers, that entire concept seems warped, but for unbelievers, “getting even” is the only “wise” option.
It is sad that many unbelievers persecute Christians because they believe it is the right thing to do. Many Christians in the Middle East are brutally murdered by people that think they are doing God a favor by killing Christians. Surely, the Bible is coming true, my friend.
“They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.” –Joh. 16:2
