This Witness is True
Titus 1:13a (KJV)
“This witness is true…”
In this passage of Scripture, the Apostle Paul is talking to Titus about all of the false teachers and false religions that were present in Crete. In verse 13, Paul seems to give TItus a word of both encouragement and reassurance about his own faith.” This witness is true…”
Even with all the false religions and false doctrines that are present in the world today, we can rest assured that this witness is true. The Bible clearly states in 1 John 5:9 that, “If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.” The Witness of God is that God has testified of His Son.
Many people don’t realize that God didn’t just testify of His Son in the New Testament. He testified of His Son several times in the Old Testament. All of the Old Testament prophets pointed to the Messiah in some way or another. The prophet Isaiah gave very clear references to the Saviour, as did King David.
Even some of the Old Testament saints like Abraham, saw the ideological “picture” of the Messiah when he saw the ram caught by its horns in the thicket after God had stopped him from killing his son. The Ram gave Moses a very clear picture of what God would do in the future. He would provide a pure and righteous Lamb that would take the punishment, the penalty for our sin, that all men might be saved through Him. My friend, that Lamb is Jesus Christ.
Even with all of the false religions that are in the world today, we can always rest assured that this Gospel, this doctrine, this Witness that we have received, is true, because it rests in Jesus Christ. May God bless you all.
